Long Distance Deliveries: The Dog Days of Summer

You know that feeling you get when you believe the summer heat is never going to end? That feeling when your glasses fog up when you exit your vehicle? That feeling of the warm, wet blanket that envelops you as soon as you step out into the great outdoors? The dog days of summer are upon us!

Running from the beginning of July to the beginning of August (unless you’re a North Texan, then maybe the beginning of October…), these particularly hot and humid days are named after astrological connections to star patterns if Sirius- the Dog Star. For most of us, though, these days represent a long, stretched out road to the end of summer heat.

The end of summer might feel like a long distance away, but Dallas Courier Service, long distance is no big deal. We handle deliveries across DFW, across the Lone Star State, and from sea to shining sea. Our long distance drivers and vehicles are dedicated to your delivery, and your delivery only, ensuring smooth, hassle free, and speedy transport of your time and temperature sensitive goods.

Don’t let the dog days of summer get you down. Let Dallas Courier handle the long distance this summer. As for those stretched out, long dog days of summer, now that your logistics are covered, you can focus on making them “Dog-friendly” days of summer, instead.

Many of us are focused how to keep our family safe during the summer heat, but we can’t forget about our furry friends! Dog-friendly days of summer await…with these tips from the Dallas Courier team:

Don’t rely on fans- Humans cool off when sweat evaporates off their skin; a process expedited by fans. However, dogs cool off with panting and releasing heat from their paws. Fans won’t be enough to cool your pup. Make sure they’re indoors, in an air conditioned space during the intense heat.

Keep the water fresh and flowing- Your pup should have ample access to fresh water at all times. Pets, like people, can dehydrate quickly.

Limit walks to before and after sunset- The days are long and hot, which makes it tough to get your pup outdoors. But the heat of the day is too much for your furry family. If the ground is too hot to put the back of your hand on, it’s too hot for your pup’s pads.

Never, NEVER leave them in the car- Don’t ever leave your pet in the car. Even if it’s “just a minute”, the temps inside your vehicle can increase by over 40 degrees in a matter of minutes. Leave your furry pal at home unless you’re going to a pet-friendly place.

Know the signs of heatstroke- Pets suffering from heat stroke may pant excessively, drool, whine, and seem lethargic. If you notice any of these with your pet, get them air conditioning and cool water immediately. Skip the ice cubes, though, those can shock your pet’s stomach and make matters worse.

The dog days of summer are here! And thanks to Dallas Courier, the dog FRIENDLY days of summer are here, as well!
