See Which Country is Taking Deliveries Underground

Dallas Courier, Dallas One Hour Services

Our Dallas one hour delivery couriers have been working here in the DFW Metroplex for over thirty years.

We’ve had plenty of time to perfect our Dallas one hour deliveries routes within and around the Big D and the surrounding cities. And, as anyone who has driven on the High Five knows, we’ve had a lot of time to figure out alternate routes.

Because, let’s be honest, Texas is awesome! But the traffic….I just can’t even!

Recently, US News put out a list of the top ten cities with the shortest commute times. Not surprisingly, Dallas, Austin, and Houston are nowhere on this list. So, unless you’d like to move to South Dakota (16.9 minute commute), or Grand Forks County North Dakota (16.6 minute commute), you’re just going to have to suck it up and get used to North Texas traffic.

Which makes it tough to offer our Dallas on hour service. Sure, we’re still meeting or beating your estimated times of delivery, but it’s getting tougher and tougher to move around the Metroplex quickly these days with your time and temperature sensitive cargo.

Maybe we should take a lesson from Switzerland.

Not the part about refusing to take sides and remaining neutral in every tough situation that occurs. (That’s idealistic, but not realistic.) But maybe a page from their creative book. Since the Swiss haven’t had to worry about playing nice in any war since 1815, they’ve had some extra time on their hands to come up with unique solution for some of the problems that big cities share.

The beauty of Switzerland has drawn in new residents steadily over the last several decades. It is expected that its northern cities will have roughly the same population as Los Angeles in the next 15 years. As we know well, this creates a big problem for the transportation and logistics of goods. Especially if we want those goods in sixty minutes or less from a one hour delivery Dallas service.

But the Swiss company called Cargo Sous Terrain is on it.

The name literally means: cargo underground. This company has pledged to take the infrastructure for logistics to areas beneath the highways and roads. Systems of underground tunnels and vehicles will connect major cities in Switzerland with one another so that cargo can move quickly without impacting or being impacted by the increase in traffic above ground.

The idea is for driverless wagons to move goods via connected tracks between cities. The items will then be transferred to electric vehicles that will deliver the products directly to the customers’ hands. Cargo Sous Terrain has plans that this last part, the final mile, will eventually be done by driverless vehicles, making the whole process look like something from The Jetsons.

With this plan, the company hopes to reduce carbon emissions by 80% on the country of Switzerland by relieving the congestion on the roads from truckloads of goods. For now, construction has yet to begin. The stage is still in planning.

The project is not expected to break ground until 2024, but already the concept is grabbing the attention of folks across the world, including Elon Musk.

You might remember our story we did on the Hyper Loop. Musk and the Cargo Sous Terrain have teamed up since Musk has similar visions for a hyper speed sub terrain system that can carry people from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Chances are, if such a system ever does go into production, it will have better chances in Europe where the legislative sanctions are more relaxed than America.

Is a future where people and products move at lightning speed in underground tunnels closer than we think? We’ll have to wait and see. But if it means we can make your Dallas one hour services faster than ever before, serving our customers better, then our Dallas Courier team is all for it.
