Holiday Couriers Remind You to Stay Safe this Memorial Day

The unofficial kickoff to summer is days away! Here at Dallas Courier Service we look forward to all the fun that the summertime season has to offer. However, we don’t look forward to the heat. Thankfully, we offer refrigerated deliveries to keep your cargo cool even as the temps heat up. With reefer vans and trucks available all season long, you can rest assured that your cold cargo will arrive safe and sound, and at the perfect temperature.

Speaking of safe and sound, the Dallas Courier team thinks this is the perfect time to remind our customers about the importance of safety during the summer season. Did you know that summer is by and large the most dangerous time of the year? With more injuries, accidents, and deaths than any other season, staying safe all season long starts NOW.

As we kick off the unofficial start to summer this Memorial Day weekend, the Dallas Courier folks want to remind you of a few safety tips for staying cool and staying safe.

  • Watch the Water- Always have an adult on water watch. This adult should be 100% committed to keeping an eye on the water at all times. This adult should have access to a phone for emergencies, but should remain undistracted by tech or talk. This year alone, 18 children have drowned in Texas- and pool season hasn’t even started! Be vigilant and on watch when your kiddos are around water.

  • Buckle Up- Driving fatalities also increase in the summertime. With visits to grandma and summer vacation plans, more cars are on the road. This year, more folks than ever are expected to travel via car this summer. If you’re behind the wheel, you’re in charge of ensuring all parties are buckled up safely. Drive with care. Dallas Courier cares for your cargo so you can care for your own precious cargo.

  • When it Doubt, Throw it Out- Summer barbecues are a tradition I am looking forward to partaking in this year! But, as our food delivery couriers know well, food safety is important. Refrigerate leftovers immediately, don’t let food sit out on a table in the hot sun, and cook all meats to safe temps as described by the CDC. Most importantly- when it doubt, throw it out!

  • Protect Your Skin- The heat is coming! More critical, though, the sun’s rays are coming. If you’re spending time poolside or outside playing frisbee golf, protect your skin. Slather on the SPF, wear light and loose long sleeves, and find shade when you can.

  • Hydrate- Staying hydrated when the heat hits is a difficult task. Between the humidity and the rising temps, it takes well over the prescribed 8 glasses of water to stay hydrated during the summertime. Do your best to drink up. Bring water with you when you’re outside (or inside, for that matter)! Don’t forget, some foods are ultra hydrating, too. Watermelon, cucumber, and bell pepper can help keep you hydrated, as well.

This Memorial Day, have fun, but stay safe! As our Dallas Courier holiday delivery team knows, summertime can be a fun season- if you’re properly prepared.

When it comes to safe transport, Dallas Courier has it down. With zero reportable incidents last year, seasoned professionals behind the wheel, and trained handlers, your cargo is safe with Dallas Courier. With these tips, we hope you extend that safety record to your own home.

Start the summer season smart. Care for your cargo, and care for your family. Call Dallas Courier to handle your holiday deliveries, and get back to what is most important. Make it a safe and spectacular start to summer!
