How to Keep That Spring in Your Step as You Spring Forward
“I love losing an hour of sleep!”- Said No One Ever
Daylight Saving Time is fast approaching. In fact, there are just a few days left before March 11th, when, at 2 AM, we will magically lose an hour to the black hole of time.
Ok, so that’s not exactly how it works.
We don’t actually lose an hour through Daylight Saving.
That being said, nobody likes being awakened an hour before they normally wake up. Even our DFW one hour delivery service knows that an hour can make a huge difference! After all, we’re on the job every day, making the most of 60 minutes, transporting your time and temperature sensitive deliveries via our extensive Dallas one hour services.
An hour can mean the difference between keeping a customer and losing one. It can mean the difference between receiving fresh foods and receiving…well...not so fresh foods. In the case of medical deliveries, it can also mean the difference between life and death.
When it comes to starting Daylight Saving Time, though, an hour can mean the difference between a productive day and a cranky one. Which boat do you want to be in? The Dallas one hour courier team has a few ideas for making your spring forward a little less painful.
Get started NOW. Every day for the next week, get up just a few minutes earlier. That way, when the Monday after Daylight Saving hits, you won’t feel as exhausted as you would if you went cold turkey.
Bask in the sun. While you might be in a bit of a rush post-Daylight Saving, take a few minutes to soak in the sunshine. Sunlight helps regular your body’s circadian rhythm. It will help you learn when to wake and when to sleep.
Get some exercise. Raising your heart rate has numerous benefits, including releasing your body’s natural “happy” hormones- endorphins. Just be sure not to exercise right before bed.
Eat a great breakfast. When you are sleep deprived, you tend to go for high calorie, high sugar simple carbs. DON’T! Instead, opt for a hearty breakfast of complex carbohydrates and protein. Try eggs and whole wheat toast, or steel cut oats and chopped fruit and nuts.
Stay away from alcohol and caffeine. An extra cup of coffee, or maybe a glass of wine in the evening might sound like great ways to cope with the loss of that hour, but it’s best to stay away. These can mess with your sleep patterns and make you feel even more crummy.
Relax. Plan to head to church on Sunday, and then relax for the rest of the evening. Get your body ready to wind down and prep for Monday- which will come one hour earlier.
Set your clock forward. The number one tip for Daylight Saving Time? Set your clock the right way. Springing forward means at 2AM on Sunday morning, you’ll turn that clock to 3 AM. Don’t forget to do it on all the clocks in your house, and, especially, the clock that you use to wake up for work.
